Rebel Yell. Get Off the Fence!

I’m a rebel – you know that right?  That’s why, right smack dab in the middle of 28 days of CustomerLove I’m going full throttle to get you to take action.  Even before I have finished loving on you.   Because I roll like that.

Here’s what went to my Advanced List earlier:  I hope you think about joining us!

Looky here!  It’s THURSDAY.  the 9th of September.

No matter what faith you follow September is a both a sombre and joyous time – a time of closing out and a time of new beginnings.

I’m offering you some thoughts on both – as they relate to the Blogging for Creatives and Healers program.  Which launches next Thursday (9/16/10). At 7pm Eastern Time.  The three-pay option, however, ends today.  Tonight before I go to bed to be exact.

Are you on the fence?  Doesn’t that hurt?

Look, if you’re on the fence, you’re on the fence.  But c’mon.  That’s gotta hurt.  I’m an
action focused gal (you may have noticed) and “get” fear but the truth is your decision to
remain in indecision is well — a choice.  Don’t think that because you “couldn’t make up your
mind,”  you’re off the hook.

>Join us here<

The “hook,” of which I speak, is YOUR hook.

Not mine. I’ve got my own stuff to make peace with or beat into submission from time to time.  Wanna know what helps?
Focusing on the value I’m feeling called to provide to my right people.  If I don’t get out of my own freaking way and go for it, those
people (maybe you, even?) are not going to believe that they can create a world-class pet-care business, or a healing business that is both
fun and spiritual or whatever it is that they’re dreaming of.

My greatest fear is dying before I can reach you and let you know how effing amazing you are.  That sort of trumps all the other crap I let get in the way.  Usually. (yeah, that sounds pretty drama-queenish — but the fear actually does keep me up at night.  and I’m not getting any younger.  the circles under my eyes have got to go away.  So I’m trying to find a way to address this fear.)

My big vision is that if every single person on the planet gets out of their own way and focuses on delivering kick-butt service, and value to the highest of their abilities – they’ll be changing the world. One sore neck, one lost soul, one dog needing a safe home at a time.
When we each accept the fact that we are here for a purpose and choose to face our demons to get out of our way and live in our purpose -
the world truly changes.  (It’s a big world so sometimes it seems like teeny tiny inches that are moving — but trust me – it happens).

Wow.  I tried to take my soap box down a bit, but I have Warrior stars in both my hands and sometimes I get carried away.

Got Questions?

So, if you have questions that you’re using to stay on the fence, here are some answers.  If I don’t answer your question here, feel free
to send me an email and I’ll set up a time to chat if you want or will answer you by email.

The important thing is that if you want to make 3 payments instead of one - the deadline is tonight!

Questions from recent registrants.  (Before they registered, obvi)

I know that I should be blogging, but I’m just, well, I have nothing to say.

First, this isn’t a question, it’s a call for stroking.  Or help.  Or encouragement.  Or someone to deflect the tomatoes you think are going to come sailing from the internetz and hit you square on the forehead.

Second.  You do too.

The fact that you wrote to me to say you have nothing to say is like holding up a big green and purple flag saying “HELLO! I’m here! and I want you to know that!”

Yeah.  It is.  I know because we all want to be noticed.  (even those of you who say you don’t, but that’s a whole other story, right?!)

You want to be noticed.  The thing is, you’re probably a bit intimadated or worried about what you’ll be noticed for, right? The tomato fear again.

When this comes rumbling so strongly that you have to wave that flag it means you have so much to say, and such a creative and vibrant message that there’s no way you can keep shutting it down.  You keep shutting it down, you’ll be dealing with tummy trouble or leg issues (maybe even your feet).

Let me tell you a secret: the best way to figure out what you have to say is to say it.

You can practice.  You can grow.  You didn’t become a world-class peach-cobbler maker the first time you picked a peach did you?  Practice.

It makes me mad as hell when people think they are either born to communicate or not.  You were put here for a purpose. You learn to live in your purpose when you live it. When you share it.  When you experiment with it.  Not by thinking about it. period.

What if my mother (ex/kids/boss) reads the blog?

What if?

Either you’re speaking your truth and reaching your core people (and building your business as a result) or you’re speaking in platitudes and beige
and not offending anyone. When you do that – you’re not reaching anyone because no one can tell how you’re different from the 8 bagillion
other blogs out there,
but your mom will be happy.  On the other hand, there are plenty of ways to speak your truth, educate, inform and create a tribe.
Yes, the more you are on purpose, the more people will be turned off.  Look, Princess Diana, Michael Jackson, the President of the United States, Oprah and even Mother Theresa have pretty vocal critics.  When yours are at that level, we’ll talk about body guards.  Til then, be you and the tribe will form.

In my years in community and school theater I’ve learned a few things about “being on stage”  – mostly not everyone is going to dig what you’re doing – the role you’re playing or even the way you’re bringing a beloved character to life.  Your job, though, is to do it the best way you know how.  And learn while you’re doing it.  That’s the same thing here.

What if I can’t make the calls live?

I know, you’ve got PTA meetings, speaking gigs and even clients to tend to.  Sometimes those obligations will happen during the time of our calls.
That is the immense joy of technology.  No matter what time zone you’re in, or what other duties you have on your calendar, you’ll get all the goodness of the calls through the recordings.  You’ll benefit from whomever steps up to the hot-seat (because we can all learn from someone else’s questions); and you’ll have the ability to participate in the forum, show up in the content creation program and of course you’ll have your one-to-one consulting session with me to keep you focused.  As long as you’re doing the work in between the calls (that’s where the magic really happens – when you put into action what you’re learning) and checking in for assistance when you need it (I’ll happily take email questions before each week’s calls and address them for you — like a pseudo-hot-seat) you’ll reap the rewards.

I won’t lie, I’ll miss you live, but I totally get you’ve got stuff.  The whole point here is learning skills that will help you continue to balance work, and life and family and all the stuff you love.

I’m a crappy writer.

Again, people, this is a STATMENT.  And it’s not true.  First of all, anyone with less than a kindergarten education is able to produce a blog these days and you are reading this, so you know the first part of writing – reading.  The second is — writing, particularly on a blog, is most often determined by your voice.

There’s no need to be Hemingway (puh leeze don’t try!) or Faulkner or even Judy Blume — all you need is to be you.  Your voice is unique (as are the voices of all those famous writers).  Some of them, like James Joyce, were pretty royally trashed for being crappy writers but they pursued because they had a story to tell.  In their own voice.

Your voice comes from practice and action. (You don’t think I started out smelling like these roses on paper do you?)

Blogging isn’t about writing for the New York Times or even The Huffington Post (or the Encyclopedia Brittanica) there are no editorial guidelines other than what you create as you go along.  This class will show you how to craft your voice and practice using it.  (That’s also what we’ll be focusing on during the content creation lab sessions too).

Are you going to offer this again?

Good marketing gurus tell me to say “Not sure, I’m really busy with new initiatives, this is probably the only time I’ll offer this.”

That feels kinda crummy to me though.

Here’s the deal — I get bored easily. I like coming up with new things (which is just one of the reasons I love blogging – it’s a place to format all those new things!) It takes all my willpower to keep my butt in a chair long enough to create all the massive content necessary for each program I launch, in a way that works for my students.

Reworking a class for a second go round is sort of like singing the same cover song for the billionth time — you try to keep it fresh to make the audience happy but, it isn’t always prudent.  My students like my freshness.  So maybe.  I may offer it again if I can come up with enough fun and exciting stuff to keep it fresh and new and different (oh, and if you’ve taken the class once you can get in  all the future editions for no-cost). My sense is that the world of blogging is still young and that I’ll continue to find new and interesting ways to teach this program.  So, maybe I’ll offer this again live.  The price will go up for certain.

I will definitely have this program available as a home-study program – sometime in 2011.

Sure you may have more questions – so go ahead, write me — or better yet, post them on the blog comments and I’ll answer them.

Ultimately – I’m encouraging you to make a choice (whichever is perfect for you).
Stop agonizing on the fence – either come along for the ride or don’t.  I’ll love you just the same.   Really.
The only thing I cannot stand is watching someone beat themselves up on the edge of the high dive — either go in or go back down –
but don’t stand there in agony.
It’s painful for us all.

So, 3-pay option closes tonight. There are still 5 spots open.  We start a week from today – 7pm on 9/16/10

>Check it out here<

It will be painless and fun.  (I will, however, kick you into action)

And if you register by tonight you can still qualify for the 3 payment option (119 a month) instead of the full payment 357.00

>Want in?<

Kids — have fun.  play safe.  and get ready to share your awesomesauce with the world.  They really need a dose of you because changing the world ain’t for sissies!
